Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Imrul Kayes has bid farewell to Test and first-class cricket but remains open to competing in domestic and franchise T20 and ODI tournaments. While the possibility of a national team comeback seems unlikely, Kayes is determined to maintain his fitness and contribute to cricket for a few more years.

Speaking at a press conference in Mirpur, Kayes shared his future aspirations, revealing plans to establish a cricket academy in Australia, where he spends most of his time with his family. He highlighted his ongoing involvement in Australia's Premier Division cricket and expressed his desire to stay connected to the game after retirement.

Kayes stated, "After my cricket career ends, I’ll have to remain in Australia as my family lives there. I’m already playing in their Premier Division league and planning to set up a coaching academy. Discussions are ongoing, and we’re working on it. Hopefully, by next year, we can start operations."

The left-handed batter’s vision extends beyond just coaching. He aims to leverage Australia's advanced cricketing ecosystem to gain valuable insights, which he hopes to bring back to Bangladesh someday.

Kayes expressed his willingness to work with the Bangladesh cricket team in the future, stating, "I want to stay connected to cricket after retiring and acquire advanced knowledge of the game. Everyone knows Australia is at the forefront of modern cricket analytics and techniques. I hope to learn from their top coaches and work at a high level there. If I ever get the opportunity to contribute to the Bangladesh team, I’d consider it a great honor."
