Pakistan's top tier top order
Pakistan's top order has been splendid throughout the ODI series and this match too they didn’t despond. The top guys rose to the occasion. The previous two match centurion Fakhar Zaman couldn’t contribute much as he fell cheaply to Matt Henry for a 26 ball 19. While the skipper Babar Azam and the other opening batter Imam-Ul-Haq helped Pakistan to build the innings. They both made 108 runs together before Babar knocked out by Matt Henry's ripper. Babar scored a fluent 54 off 62 balls. While Imam missed his well deserved hundred only for 10 runs as he scored a magnificent 90 off 107 balls at a strike rate of 84.11.
Pakistan's fragile middle order contributed here and there to post a formidable total of 287 runs on a two paced pitch of Karachi National Stadium. Mohammad Rizwan played a 32 run knock of 34 balls and Agha Salman scored a brisk 31 off 29 balls. But it was Shadab Khan, whose late blitz Pakistan to finish on the stroke of 300. Shadab Khan lit up the Karachi as he raced to 21 from only 10 balls. He smacked 2 gigantic sixes and a boundary.
From New Zealand, Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets at an economy of 5.4. Adam Milne got two wickets while all-rounder Cole McConchie scalped one.
After failing in back to back matches. Kiwi top order rose to chase the total and salvage the respect. The opening stand scored 83 runs before a miscommunication got Will Young's wicket for 33. But his other partner Chad Bowes notched up a fifty as he scored 65 off 78. New Zealand talisman Daryl Mitchell couldn’t shine as he scored only 21. Skipper Tom Latham saw some time and scored a while but was unable to convert the start into a massive one. Latham was deceived by a beautiful delivery from Mohammad Wasim Jr. Middle order batters Chapman, Nichols failed miserably but Cole McConchie showed some hope to New Zealand. He hit some lusty blows and tried to up the ante but it was too late. And hence, New Zealand lost the match as well as the series by 26 runs.
