The first day of the first Test between South Africa and the West Indies were halted by heavy shower. Only 15 overs have been played on the day 1 and the umpires and match officials had to call off the day. However, West Indies claimed a vital wicket of Aiden Markram before the stumps.
Jason Holder knocked over Aiden Markram before the heavens opened up.
After opting to bat first, Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram started off to a flier, stitching a 43-run opening stand between them before Holder crashed the defence of Markram [9 off 34]. The departure of Markram brought in the newly formed number three batter Tristan Stubbs.
Despite the fall of Markram, Tony de Zorzi was going with full pace, scoring a breezy 32* off 52 deliveries with the help of 2 sixes and 2 boundaries.
South Africa managed to get 45 runs in 15 overs with the fall of one sole wicket of opener Aiden Markram. Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies as he snatched a wicket and gave West Indies a brilliant start.
The day 2 will have an early start tomorrow due to losing huge overs on the first day.
