In the first round of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024-25, Gulshan Cricket Club shocked everyone by beating the favourite Mohammedan Sporting Club by 107 runs at BKSP. Even though Bangladesh's best batter, Tamim Iqbal, was in charge of Mohammedan, they couldn't beat a strong Gulshan team. It's interesting that Tamim owns shares in Gulshan Cricket Club.

Pacer Abu Hider Rony had the best game of the bowlers, taking four wickets. But Gulshan still put up a strong score.
Mohammedan's batting order fell apart when they had to chase 299 runs. Tamim Iqbal got off to a slow start and only scored 22 runs off of 22 balls before he was out. Soon after, Rony Talukdar came in and bowled 9 slow balls out of 23. This left Mohammedan struggling with 31 runs for 2 wickets.
Some good work from Mahidul Islam Ankon (31 off 40) and Ariful Islam (73 off 79), but the game quickly fell apart. The bowlers for Gulshan were great, and centurion Ifti was especially good with the ball, taking 3 important wickets. Mohammedans' game ended with just 191 runs in 40.2 overs thanks to two wickets each from captain Azizul Hakim Tamim and Mohammad Elias.
