Pakistan finished on 132-2 after the day two in Perth test trailing by 355 runs. Aamer Jamal's 6 fer on debut helped Pakistan bundle Australia out before 500, 486. And then the Pakistani openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam - Ul - Haq dug in and showed ray of hope for Pakistan.
Earlier, Marsh and Carey's 90 run stand ensured David Warner’s incredible 164 not to go in vain. Carey was castled off Aamer Jamal and so was Marsh on his 90. Australia were bundled out for 486, at the stroke of 500 mark. Credit to Pakistani bowlers, particularly Aamer Jamal who took a 6 fer on his debut.
And then, the Pakistani saw off the new ball cautiously. They were scratchy, resilient and determined. The openers survived for 36 overs and added only 74 runs before Abdullah Shafique got out on Nathan Lyon for his gutsy 42 off 121 deliveries. Skipper Shan Masood was racing towards his fifty and was hitting boundaries at ease.
However a late strike from Mitchell Starc which bamboozled Shan Masood helped Australia get themselves back into the game. Shan Masood was gone after his 30 off 43 balls. Pakistan then brought a night watchman Khurram Shahzad in who consumed 18 balls to ensure Pakistan to no have any scare more.
Pakistan are now on 132-2 with Imam - Ul - Haq on his gritty 38 off 136 deliveries. They're trailing by 355 runs and they'll be hoping from Imam to make it bigger. On the contrary, Australia will be eyeing to take some early wickets tomorrow morning to get them back in the race.
