Fortune Barishal send best wishes to Rangpur Riders for Global Super League
While Shakib Al Hasan played for Rangpur in the last BPL season, he will not be part of the squad for this international event. Rangpur's captain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, will lead the team, which includes all-rounder Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin, who recently impressed in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. They will be joined by five foreign players, bringing the squad’s total to 14.

With Fortune Barishal opting out of the Global Super League, the Rangpur Riders will take their place, gaining entry based on their performance in the latest Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.
The Rangpur squad recently shared this news on social media, receiving a supportive message from Barishal. Barishal posted, "Wishing our friends at Rangpur Riders the best of luck for the upcoming Global Super League! We hope Captain Sohan and his teammates can make the most of this brilliant opportunity.” Rangpur responded to the post with a “fist bump” emoji, thanking Barishal for their encouragement.

The Rangpur squad, though secured based on past performance, is assembled with a forward-looking approach to the next BPL season. Sohan, Mahedi, and Saifuddin were retained ahead of the draft, while others like Soumya Sarkar and Saif Hassan were selected in the draft to bolster Rangpur’s lineup. Key players like national leg-spinning all-rounder Rishad Hossain and left-handed batter Afif Hossain are also set to play. Completing the local lineup are left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny and pace bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi.
Rangpur has also signed five overseas players, including West Indies all-rounder Matthew Forde, England’s Wayne Madsen, and pacer Zak Chappell. From the U.S., Rangpur has recruited left-handed off-spinning batter Harmeet Singh and his teammate Steven Taylor.
Alongside Rangpur, several other top teams will participate in the Global Super League, including Hampshire Hawks from England, PSL’s Lahore Qalandars, Victoria from Australia’s domestic cricket, and host team Guyana Amazon Warriors. Notably, Bangladesh’s pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib will join the Guyana squad, subject to fitness and NOC clearance, marking another Bangladeshi presence in the league.
