On Monday, January 8th, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) officially declared that sanctions against three players—Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman had been modified in response to their rejected request for release from central contracts.
The ACB penalised the three players last month for requesting a release from their central contracts, revoked their current No-Objection Certificates, and denied them additional NOCs for two years.
A "Final Warning" along with a "salary deduction" and central contracts were announced by the ACB for the three players. Subject to their dedication to national service, the Afghanistan Cricket Board also extended "limited NOCs" to the three players, allowing them to participate in Twenty20 competitions abroad.
"We really hope the players avoid making similar inconveniences in the future as we expect them to represent the country in the best of manners. The ACB and the rules are above all of us and it's important to adhere to the regulations because there are no exceptions for anyone in this regard. However, such cases of a similar nature would be dealt with more strictly as we prioritise the prestige of the Afghanistan Cricket and the organization,” ACB chief Mirwais Ashraf said.
All three players have been selected for Afghanistan's T20I team for the forthcoming three-match series against India, which will begin on January 11.
