England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan has now been appointed as the president of the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA). Morgan will replace current president Charlotte Edwards. England won the 2019 ODI World Cup under Morgan's leadership.
The 37-year-old Morgan said goodbye to international cricket in 2022. But he is associated with cricket. He is working as a commentator and cricket analyst. Morgan has played more than 350 matches on the international stage. The brightest part of this is undoubtedly the 2019 ODI World Cup. England beat New Zealand by a boundary after a super over in the final to win the World Cup title. Eoin Morgan is set to take over as the PCA's 10th president.
Morgan is very happy to get the big responsibility. In a statement, he said, "Having been a PCA member for 19 years, it gives me an overwhelming sense of gratitude and honour to be provided this prestigious opportunity. As we navigate through an ever-changing landscape of cricket, the role of the PCA is even more critical. We must ensure that the organisation adapts and innovates to safeguard the evolving needs of our players, to enable them to thrive on and off the field.
"I am also looking forward to supporting the Professional Cricketers' Trust which has always been close to my heart and will hopefully enable me to give something back to the game."
Morgan was a member of the Team England Player Partnership Management Board during his tenure as England captain. The PCA is the current and former cricketers' association of England. It started its journey in 1967.
