England script historic victory over Pakistan in Multan to go 1-0 ahead in the series

England have beaten Pakistan in the first Test by an innings and 47 runs on Friday (October 11) in Multan. A sensational triple hundred from Harry Brook and a double hundred from Joe Root piled up 823 runs and Pakistan succumbed to death in the second innings and were folded up for a measly 220 runs, which led them to another Test defeat at home.
England have scripted history in Multan as they have become the first team to win a Test match after conceding 500+ runs in the first innings.
Pakistan had no answer of England's gigantic 823. Although the hosts posted 556 runs in the first innings. England were tremendous in their first innings, it was led by Root and Brook's record-breaking partnership of 454 runs, playing at over 5 run rate per over.
Pakistan had a collapse in their second innings and were stuttering on 82-6. Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal then took the onus on their shoulders as both of them added a crucial 109-run stand before Jack Leach removed the former one on 63 off 84 balls. Aamer Jamal, however remained unbeaten till the end as he made a fighting 55* off 104 balls.
Jack Leach picked up four wickets, while Brydon and Gus Atkinson Carse had two wickets each. England's excellent bowling in the second innings helped them get another historic victory over Pakistan.
The second Test begins from Tuesday (October 15) in the same venue.
