The Ashes hasn't gone too well for the
till now and when they were in with a chance of winning the fourth test, rain has slightly ended their chances. Now to make things even worse, England were questioned for ball tampering in the fourth day of the test match.
The incident caught in eyes when former Aussie leg spinner Shane Warner in the commentary box said: "I'm not sure you are allowed to use your fingernail there" during the live coverage. The other commentator Micheal Slater in reply said: "That's interesting, you can't get your nail into the ball."
The fact that Anderson's fingernail appeared to be working on the shiny side of the ball rather undermined the allegations that he was seeking to adversely alter its condition, as Bayliss pointed out while dismissing the story as a "beat-up" when he spoke to the media at the close of play.
The England coach Trevor Bayliss has dismissed the media allegations of ball tampering. He said: "We've had a good couple of days and there was no too much positive press for them, so it was a bit of pommie-bashing I suppose. But we are used to that. We knew when we came out it was going to be 24 million versus 11, and we just have to laugh it off."
Bayliss’s recount of his conversation with the umpires was echoed by Madugalle who, via a Cricket
spokesperson, claimed there was no substance to any suggestion of ball tampering by England’s bowlers or fielders.
