Legendary Australian opener David Warner has officially declared himself eligible for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 draft after being surprisingly excluded from the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction.
The announcement was made via the league's social media channels with a banner and the caption "The year 2024 ends on a high. Australian powerhouse David Warner has registered for the PSL Draft."
The upcoming 10th PSL season will be played in Gwadar, Balochistan, with the draft scheduled for January 11. The tournament runs from April 8 to May 19 and promises top-class cricket with international stars such as Warner and New Zealand pacer Tim Southee signed up.
Warner remained unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction despite a stellar record in the league. Warner started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2009 and moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2014. Under his captaincy, SRH won the IPL title in 2016 and he is the only player to have won three Orange Caps. However, his IPL career ended on a bitter note after a falling out with SRH in 2021 and a brief stint with Delhi Capitals from 2022 to 2024.
In Test cricket, Warner scored 8,786 runs in 112 matches at an average of 44.59, with 26 centuries and a career-best 335. In ODIs, he scored 6,932 runs in 161 matches at an average of 45.30 and boasted 22 centuries. In his T20I career, Warner scored 3,277 runs in 110 matches at a staggering strike rate of 142.47, making him Australia's highest run-scorer in the format.
He also played a pivotal role in Australia's triumphs, including two ICC ODI World Cups, a T20 World Cup and a World Test Championship.
