Charles, McCoy make it 3-0 over South Africa in Kingston

West Indies thumped South Africa by 8 wickets to clean sweep protea on Monday (27th May) at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. Obed Mccoy's brilliant three-fer helped Windies reduce South Africa to 163. In reply, Johnson Charles' aggressive 69* off only 26 balls, along with their captain Brandon King's quick-fire cameo of 44 off 28 balls helped them chase down the total with 8 wickets in hands and more than 6 overs to spare.

Opting to bat first, South Africa crumbled earlier on. They lost Reeza Hendricks to Shamar Joseph for cheaply, and then Motie trapped Quinton De Kock for LBW. Motie was running riot picking up the wicket of Matthew Breetzke and South Africa were stumbling on 50-4.
Captain Rassie Van Der Dussen stood tall on the occasion and played some delightful cricketing shots to stamp his authority, scoring a fantastic fifty [51 off 31] and then fell to Obed McCoy. At the backend of the innings, Wiaan Mulder scored a fine 36 off 28 to help South Africa post 163 on the board.
Obed McCoy was the standout bowler as he picked up three vital wickets in crucial juncture of the Protea innings. Shamar Joseph and Gudakesh Motie both shared two wickets each.
In reply, Brandon King and Johnson Charles gave Windies a flying start. Charles went berserk from ball one and scored a blistering fifty off just 20 deliveries which killed the chase inside the powerplay. Charles then fell to Nqaba Peter against run of play on 69 off just 26 deliveries, with the help of 5 massive sixes and 9 boundaries. King then took the charge and scored a fine 44 off just 28 deliveries before getting out to Gerald Coetze.
It was Kyle Mayers who took Windies over the line with another monstrous 36 off 23 balls. Windies had more than 6 overs to spare and 8 wickets in hands.
