Chamari Athapaththu topples Natalie Sciver-Brunt to become the best ODI batter in Women's rankings
Powering Sri Lanka to their highest successful run chase in Women's ODI's has taken her to the top of the ICC Women's ODI batting rankings.

Sri Lankan women's team captain Chamari Athapaththu is talk of the table after her unbeaten 195* in a record run chase on Wednesday against South Africa. Powering Sri Lanka to their highest successful run chase in Women's ODI's has taken her to the top of the ICC Women's ODI batting rankings.

Athapaththu's swashbuckling knock in the third and final ODI helped Sri Lanka level the three-match ODI series in South Africa.
In pursuit of a record 302 to win, Athapaththu led Sri Lanka’s fightback with a glorious 195*, the third-highest individual score in women’s ODI's.
It's also the second-highest indvidual score by anyone in a successful run chase in ODI cricket - both men's and women's just right behind of Glenn Maxwell's 201* against Afghanistan in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium.
The knock handed Athapaththu achieve her highest-ever rating (773) in the women's batting rankings, she edged Natalie Sciver-Brunt to become the best ODI batter currently. The Sri Lankan skipper also jumped two spots in the all-rounder rankings to enter the top 10 at 9th position.
Meanwhile, Laura Wolvaardt, who also shone with back-to-back ODI tons in the series against Sri Lanka, including a career-high of 184* that eventually went in futile, raced her way to third position in the ODi batting rankings.
