Opting to bowl first, England bowled superbly. Seamers got it to nip around, and the spinners found a good amount of purchase. The visitors made the most of the pitch. Saqib Mahmood and Jofra Archer removed the openers, while Liam Livingstone picked up the wicket of big fish Nicholas Pooran. Saqib trapped Chase for LBW and West Indies were in all sorts of trouble.
Skipper Rovman Powell stood tall and scored a gritty knock of 43 off 41 before being knocked over to Mousley. At the backend of the innings, Romario Shepherd's quick-fire [22 off 12] and Matthew Forde's [13* off 6] helped the hosts get 158 on the board.
In reply, Akeal Hossain drew the first blood and had the in-form Phil Salt for a golden duck. Will Jacks then partnered up with skipper Jos Buttler and the skipper made merry with some relentless boundaries from the get-go. The duo stitched up for a match changing partnership of 129 runs and Buttler hammered 83 off only 45 balls, including 6 monstrous sixes and 8 delightful boundaries.
Jacks played the second fiddle role and scored 38 off 29 balls, while Liam Livingstone came in to flourish the innings with 23* off 11 to ace the chase inside 15 overs.
