The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 players' draft has officially concluded, with all franchises solidifying their squads through player retentions, direct signings, and the draft process.
Teams had strict budgets to work within, with a maximum limit of 4 crore BDT for domestic players and 3 crore BDT for international players. Despite the financial constraints, some franchises spent lavishly to assemble star-studded teams, while others took a more economical approach.
Fortune Barishal, the defending champions, emerged as the highest spenders, shelling out an estimated 5.48 crore BDT. Their squad now boasts key local players like Mahmudullah Riyad, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Rishad Hossain, alongside international talents such as Pathum Nissanka and James Fuller.
Following Barishal, Sylhet Strikers came in second in terms of spending, with a total of 3.26 crore BDT. The Strikers built a strong lineup, featuring veterans like Mashrafe Mortaza and Rony Talukdar, alongside international stars Reece Topley and Rahkeem Cornwall.
Khulna Tigers ranked third with a budget of 3.24 crore BDT. Their squad includes Naim Sheikh, Lewis Gregory, and experienced players like Imrul Kayes.
Meanwhile, the returning franchise, Chittagong Kings, made a splash with a 2.76 crore BDT investment, securing Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, and a number of international and local talents.
Durbar Rajshahi, a new entrant to the league, spent 2.61 crore BDT to form a team around emerging stars like Jishan Alam and Akbar Ali. Similarly, Dhaka Capitals, another fresh franchise, secured Litton Das, Habibur Rahman Sohan, and Saim Ayub for a total of 2.60 crore BDT.
Surprisingly, despite having one of the biggest budgets, Rangpur Riders spent the least amount—just 2.12 crore BDT. They built a balanced squad, with major signings like Mohammad Saifuddin, Iftikhar Ahmed, Alex Hales, and Mohammad Nabi, proving that big names don’t always require big spending.
