The A team includes several regular national team players like Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haque, and Mushfiqur Rahim, who have used these matches to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. Bangladesh currently have two teams touring Pakistan: the national team and the A team. The Bangladesh A team recently drew their first four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens.
The A team includes several regular national team players like Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haque, and Mushfiqur Rahim, who have used these matches to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. Anamul Haque Bijoy, the captain of the A team, believes that the experience gained from playing these matches will help the players perform well for the national team.
After the match, Bijoy shared his thoughts with the media, saying, "This tour has been a great opportunity for all our players, whether they are part of the A team or the national team. Playing cricket at this high level is a valuable experience. We are happy with the facilities provided here, although the conditions were a bit challenging due to frequent rain."
Commenting on the conditions, Bijoy said, "The conditions here are quite similar to those in Bangladesh, but it’s a bit hotter. The wickets here are slightly better than ours."
Bijoy also noted that Pakistan's left-handed batters, including their captain, performed well. He added, "We have learned a few things from this match, and hopefully, we will apply them in the next game."
The first Test match between the Bangladesh and Pakistan national teams will take place in Rawalpindi, where a green pitch with grass is expected. Bijoy mentioned, "We have 4-5 players who are part of both the A team and the national team. I am sure they are already planning and strategizing how to handle Pakistan's quality pace bowling. Pakistani bowlers are among the best in the world, and it will be a challenge, but it’s also a valuable learning experience for our batters."
The Tigers' coaching staff includes Pakistan's Mushtaq Ahmed, who is familiar with the local conditions and the strengths and weaknesses of the Pakistan team. When asked about this, Bijoy said, "As part of the A team, we are not overly focused on the national team. However, Mushtaq Ahmed, who is our spin bowling coach, has been advising our batters on how to tackle the Pakistani bowlers. You need to have a Plan A and a Plan B when facing them. It’s challenging, but I hope our players will give their best."
The second four-day match between the Bangladesh A team and Pakistan Shaheens will start on August 20 in Islamabad.
