Indian cricket fans can breathe a sigh of relief as BCCI sources confirm skipper Rohit Sharma's injury is minor and he is expected to be fit for their high-voltage encounter against Pakistan on June 9th.
During India's emphatic victory against Ireland in the T20 World Cup opener, Rohit Sharma was forced to retire hurt after being struck on the arm by a bouncer. Despite the blow, Sharma displayed grit and determination, scoring a brilliant 52 runs off just 37 deliveries.
A senior BCCI official confirmed to Indian media that Sharma's injury is not serious, and he is on track to recover in time for the marquee clash against Pakistan at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Following the match, Rohit himself downplayed the concerns, describing the soreness in his arm as "just a little."
India's World Cup campaign got off to a flying start with a dominant eight-wicket win over Ireland. After their much-anticipated match against Pakistan, they will face the co-hosts, USA, before concluding the league stage against Canada on June 15th.
