Yesterday, ESPNcricinfo said in their report - Pakistan will play in neutral venues in the upcoming ODI World Cup. And Bangladesh are ahead as a neutral venue. However, after a day, ICC responded.
In an interview given to Cricbuzz, an ICC representative clarified that there was no discussion about Pakistan's matches being held in Bangladesh in the board meeting.
"Bangladesh was not discussed at all at the Board meeting and full backing for the event in India was given by the Board. We're focused on that," an ICC official told Cricbuzz.
Last week's ICC meeting was held in Dubai. A Cricbuzz report has revealed that some people discussed these issues in the meeting. A representative who was present at the meeting said, "It was not discussed at the board. (It) may have been in one of the committees but never in my presence.”
Meanwhile, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that BCB does not know about the matter. ICC manager Wasim Khan raised the issue of Pakistan playing at a neutral venue in the World Cup. He said he does not think Pakistan will play the World Cup on Indian soil. He also said that Pakistan can also follow the hybrid model like India.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah clarified that India will not go to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup. Hence the hybrid model is proposed. Where India will play all their matches at neutral venues.
