Bangladesh will finally return to Australia for a Test series after 18 long years. Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the two-match Test series between Australia and Bangladesh to happen in August 2026. It will be the Tigers' first trip to Australia since 2008, when they last visited.
The series was supposed to happen in March 2027 as part of the Future Tours Program (FTP), but Cricket Australia has decided to move it up to August 2026 because they have so many home games that month.
The last time Bangladesh played in Australia was in 2008, when Mohammad Ashraful was in charge. They played a three-match ODI series there. But since they became Test players in 2000, they have never been to Australia for a Test series.
This tour will be a big deal for Bangladesh cricket because it gives them a long-awaited chance to play the biggest version of the game in Australia.
Cricket Australia also set a busy 14-month Test schedule that will begin with a series against Bangladesh. Here is a sneak peek at what the Aussies have in store:
August 2026 – Two-Test series at home vs Bangladesh
September 2026 – Three-Test series away vs South Africa
December 2026 - January 2027 – Four-Test home series vs New Zealand
January - February 2027 – Five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India
March 2027 – A special Test match against England to celebrate 150 years of Test cricket
Mid-2027 – World Test Championship Final (if qualified)
Mid-2027 – Five-Test Ashes Series in England
Australia’s 2026-27 home summer will now begin with Bangladesh, setting the stage for an action-packed season.
