The Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team suffered a 5-wicket defeat against Tasmania Tigers in a match where they initially posted a competitive total of 166 runs. However, the Tasmanian side chased down the target with three balls and five wickets to spare.
Opting to bat first, the Bangladesh HP team got off to a decent start thanks to opener Jishan Alam. His aggressive approach gave the innings some early momentum. However, his opening partner, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, struggled to get going, scoring at a slower pace. Despite that, the opening pair managed to add 73 runs before Tamim was dismissed for 28 runs off 29 balls.
The very next delivery saw Jishan Alam also make his way back to the pavilion after scoring a brisk 38 runs off 23 balls, leaving the team in a bit of trouble. Parvez Hossain Emon, coming in at No. 3, took charge of the innings. Emon held his ground and played a steady knock, contributing 39 runs off 29 balls. Akbar Ali chipped in with 20 runs off 17 balls, while Abu Hider Rony added an unbeaten 6 runs off 4 balls towards the end. At the close of their 20 overs, Bangladesh HP had posted a total of 166/5.
For Tasmania, Gabe Bell was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets.
In response, Tasmania Tigers faced early setbacks as they lost three wickets within the first 8 overs, with only 51 runs on the board.
However, Tasmania’s middle-order batter Jake Doran played a match-winning knock that turned the tide in favor of the Tigers. His composed and calculated innings of 71* runs off 37 balls, laced with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes, provided the backbone of the chase. Doran’s performance was complemented by opener Nick Davis, who contributed 30 runs off 23 balls, and Tim Ward, who added 25 runs off 28 balls.
Doran's brilliant fifty anchored the chase, and despite losing a few more wickets, Tasmania managed to reach the target, finishing at 167/5 with three balls to spare. Rakibul Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh HP, taking 2/23.
