Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has once again shown his skill by being included in the team of honor of the tournament's World Test Championship, announced by Cricket Australia on Wednesday.
Pakistani skipper Babar Azam added another feather to his cap when he was named to the honor team of the tournament's World Test Championship by the Australia Cricket Board.
This "Best XI" honors those who have delivered throughout the WTC's biennial cycle and seeks to form a team that would thrive in any conditions, the board said in a statement.
The team consists of three fast bowlers and two spinners, including Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder, along with aggressive mid-order hitters who played a crucial role in the second half of the championship.
Babar's inclusion in the team is due to his outstanding performance in Test cricket over the past 24 months. He amassed more than 1,500 runs in just 14 Tests, including a remarkable 425-ball 196 against Australia in Karachi, which almost resulted in an unlikely victory for Pakistan. He also scored centuries against Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand.
It certainly helped his cause that he completed eight Tests under Pakistan's batsman-friendly home conditions, but he still averaged 56.30 away, including 119 against Sri Lanka in Galle, which was instrumental in his side's victory.
