Afghanistan crashed Uganda by a massive margin of 125 runs on Tuesday (4th June) at Providence Stadium, Guyana. A record-breaking 154 run opening stand between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran set the tone for Afghans, which helped them post 183 on the board. In reply, Fazalhaq Farooqi was scorching fire and ripped through Uganda's batting lineup to bundle them for a measly 58 runs.
Being asked to bat first, Afghanistan started their innings in a rapid pace. They raced their way to 66 runs inside the powerplay. Both of the batters were dealing with boundaries and smashing the Ugandan bowlers at everywhere of the park. The duo brought up a 154 run opening stand, where Gurbaz scored a swashbuckling 76 off juet 45 balls and Zadran made 70 off 46 deliveries.
After the departure of the opening duo, Afghanistan crumbled and couldn’t manage to hit a single boundary in the last six overs. However, their opening stand led them to a massive 183 on the board.
In reply, Uganda couldn’t even stand infront of a firing Afghan bowling attack. Fazalhaq Farooqi set the tone after removing the Ronak Patel and Mukasa in consecutive deliveries. And then Naveen Ul Haq came in and steemed fire to tear apart Uganda's middle order.
Uganda seemed to be armatures infront of an inspiring Afghan attack. Farooqi returned with the figures of 9-5 in his four over quota.
Afghanistan have a massive margin victory to kick off the T20 World Cup, while Uganda suffered a huge defeat to kick off their maiden T20 World Cup appearance.
