A see-saw day of Test Cricket has come to an end in Multan. West Indies have surprisingly got a slender lead after the opening day of the second Test. Jomel Warrican's all-round brilliance has put West Indies on top.
Opting to bat first, West Indies had one of the worst ways to start their innings. Kashif Ali removed opener Mikyle Louis, while Noman Ali had Caribbean all-rounder Kraigg Brathwaite. West Indies had no clue infront of Noman Ali as he claimed a superb hat-trick, removing Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sinclair in consecutive deliveries to reduce West Indies to 54/8 at one stage.
But Gudakesh Motie and Kemar Roach stitched a gutsy 41-run partnership together to help their side get close to 100 and after the departure of Roach, Jomel Warrican joined Motie and the duo added a massive 68-run last wicket partnership to help West Indies get to 163 on the board. Motie brought up a fine fifty, scoring a hardfought 55 off 87 deliveries, while Warrican made an unbeaten 36* off 40 balls.
In reply, Kemar Roach was steaming in and, getting the wickets of both the openers cheaply with incredible seam movement. Babar Azam was bowled out cheaply trying to cut a ball off Gudakesh Motie and then Kamran Ghulam was out on his bat pad.
Pakistan then got a bit of partnership between wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and vice-captain Saud Shakeel as the duo added 68 runs together but the departure of this duo opened the floodgates for West Indies as Jomel Warrican once again wreaked havoc as Pakistan were all-out for a paltry 154 runs, trailing West Indies by 9 runs.
