Zimbabwe have denied a historic ODI series win for Scotland in Edinburgh. The visitors have drawn the series 1-1 with a six-wicket victory in the second ODI.
Scotland earned a famous win over Zimbabwe in the first ODI by 26 runs (DLS). It was their first ever win against a full member nation in ODIs. They had a chance to convert it into a series victory, but they couldn't succeed in doing so.
Zimbabwe skipper Graeme Cremer's five-for folded Scotland for 169 runs in 42 overs after they elected to bat first. Last match's centurion Kyle Coetzer and number three Calum MacLeod put on 71 runs for the second wicket.
Coetzer made 60-ball 61 runs hitting 7 fours and a six. MacLeod scored 58 runs off 78 deliveries with 8 fours. Scotland were eyeing another big score. But the Zimbabwe bowlers restricted them to do so. Apart from Coetzer and MacLeod, Michael Leask (11*) was the only other to reach double figures.
Cremer achieved his third ODI five-wicket haul as he claimed five wickets for 29 runs in ten overs. Sean Williams and
took two wickets each.
In reply, Chris Sole struck thrice before the lunch break. He brought down Zimbabwe's score to 44/3 in 10.3 overs. Craig Ervine and Raza rescued the team with a 55-run partnership. Ervine scored 30 of 48 balls.
Raza added unbeaten 72 runs with Ryan Burl for the fifth wicket to reach the target in 37 overs with six wickets in hand.
Raza remained unbeaten with 58 runs off 88 balls hitting 7 fours. Burl scored 43-ball 30*. Scotland's Josh Davey picked one wicket for 16 runs in eight overs.
