Former Zimbabwe Test opener Tino Mawoyo has said that Zimbabwe will have to be ‘flawless’ in all three departments to play good against
in the upcoming series which is scheduled to start on Wednesday (April 21).
"(Zimbabwe) will have to be almost flawless in all three departments... they cannot afford to lapse at all and allow Pakistan to take control. (Pakistan) will come hard at you, and they'll come hard at you early... however, if they don't get early wickets and stuff doesn't quite go their way, they do tend to flatten out a little bit,”
Mawoyo told Reuters.
Zimbabwe had been in pretty bad form currently as they lost four matches heavily against
last month. But this time, return of Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine will boost up their batting line-up and confidence. Mawoyo also thinks that.
"I think it'll definitely bring the stability that we lacked, the experience, and I think it'll just lift the spirit of the lads as well,”
he said.
He also points out an example when Zimbabwe last played Test match against Pakistan in 2013 and won the match.
"I know it's a very long time ago, but the last time Zimbabwe took on Pakistan in a test match in Harare, they won,"
he said.
Pakistan national cricket team have already reached Zimbabwe on Sunday (April 18) to play three-match T20I series and two-match Test series. Harare Sports Club will host all the matches.
The series will start with the T20I series on April 21. The Test series that will start on April 29 will be the first between the two nations since 2013, when Zimbabwe pulled off a sensational 1-1 draw at home.
Pakistan have recently toured in
from where they travel to Zimbabwe to play the series. They have completed a historic tour there as they won both ODI and T20I series. They won the ODI series by 2-1 and T20I series by 3-1.
