Yashasvi Jaiswal is ready to face the toughest challenge of his young career as India gears up to take on Australia in the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The 22-year-old opener, who has been in sensational form on home soil, is embarking on his first-ever tour of Australia, eager to make it a memorable experience.

Known for his aggressive yet composed batting style, Jaiswal has emerged as one of India’s most promising young talents. As he prepares to open the innings in the highly competitive series, Jaiswal has drawn inspiration from none other than India’s batting legend, Virat Kohli.

In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jaiswal expressed his admiration for Kohli, specifically highlighting the senior cricketer's discipline and work ethic. Reflecting on the valuable advice he received from Kohli, Jaiswal said, “When I started playing senior cricket, I did speak to Virat Paaji about how he managed himself. Paaji has said to me that if I want to play all that cricket, then I have to be disciplined in my daily routines and follow the process."

Jaiswal further explained how Kohli’s consistency both on and off the field motivates him to work harder and improve his game. “I have seen him doing the stuff consistently day by day. Actually, seeing him, it motivates me a lot to put in the work and do something and make a difference in my habits, which is really important for me. I feel like I will be better day by day,” he added.

As Jaiswal readies himself for his first outing in Australia, he acknowledges the different conditions and challenges that come with playing cricket down under. “It is my first trip to Australia. I am very excited to play here and I want to play well and do well. It is different here. The ball is different; the wicket is different. But I think we know that. I think we are ready mentally and I am really blessed to have these opportunities,” Jaiswal noted.

He concluded by expressing his excitement for the upcoming series and his desire to make the most of the opportunity. “I am ready for it mentally and physically. I want to play fearlessly, and I want to enjoy,” the young opener signed off.
