England pacer Mark Wood expressed his confidence in the team's ability to successfully defend their T20 World Cup title in the next competition, which is set to start on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.
“It was such a heartache that we played so poorly 'You're thinking. What could we have done better? Half the time we didn't even know the answer. And then the confidence left the side. Going into this World Cup, I still trust everyone in that squad. I still believe in them. It doesn't become a totally bad team overnight. We're still defending T20 champions,” Wood was quoted as saying by DailyMail.
Wood also mentioned Jofra Archer, who is about to return to international cricket after a 14-month hiatus. “He's been out a long time, let's not build him up. Let him go about his business and his class will show through. I don't want to put pressure on him. We all know he can bowl fast. I'll be trying my best to bowl fast. I just want him to be all right. Let him bowl and we know how big an influence he can have. That will give us a massive edge in any cricket,” he added.
England will start their T20 World Cup campaign on June 4 against Scotland.
