Shakib was spotted biting a string that seemed to hang from around his neck and was attached to the side of his helmet.

Coming to bat when Bangladesh was struggling at 36/4 against the Indian pace attack, Shakib attempted to counter-attack the Indian bowlers to regain control. However, it wasn’t just his fighting knock that caught the attention of fans. What puzzled many viewers was the sight of Shakib frequently biting what appeared to be the strap of his helmet. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that it wasn’t the helmet strap but a separate thread that the all-rounder kept biting while batting.

This peculiar habit raised questions among fans, and former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who was in the commentary box, shed some light on the matter. Karthik mentioned that Shakib’s former teammate, left-hander Tamim Iqbal, explained the reasoning behind this unique behavior. According to him, the string helps Shakib maintain proper posture by preventing his head from falling towards the leg side, allowing him to keep it straight when facing deliveries.

Shakib’s vision issues have been a concern in recent times. Earlier this year, he even consulted an ophthalmologist in London to address the problem. This isn’t the first time he has resorted to unusual methods to cope with his vision struggles. During the Global T20 Canada, Shakib was seen biting his jersey while batting.
