The West Indies are leading 1-0 in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. With just a draw needed in the second Test to clinch the series, the hosts are confident but hungry for more. Their goal is clear: a 2-0 series whitewash.
Speaking after arriving in
Jamaica for the second Test, West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva
expressed his team’s determination. He stated, "It’s always great to come
to Jamaica. The last time I was here, I scored a century, and it was special.
Carrying that form into this match would be great. Leading the series 1-0 feels
fantastic, but we’re not stopping here; we want to win 2-0."
Da Silva also heaped praise on his team’s pace bowlers, who have been in formidable form throughout the series. He said, "Raw pace, excellent talent. Under Kemar Roach’s leadership, the bowlers have been exceptional. Youngsters like Shamar, Jayden are bringing incredible pace to our attack. We’ve taken 18 wickets and declared in both innings. We’re eager to win both matches in the series."
When asked about potential changes in the lineup for the second Test, Da Silva remained tight-lipped, leaving the decision to the captain and coach. "Whether we make changes or not, that’s for the management to decide. The strategies worked well in the first match, and I believe we’ll deliver again in the second Test, no matter the XI," he added.
Reflecting on his own performances, Da Silva emphasized the importance of batting consistency. He shared, "Scoring 450 in the first innings was our goal, and we achieved it. The team has a lot of young talents in the middle order, and it’s important to regularly score 300-plus runs, regardless of the pitch conditions. For me, it’s about maintaining consistency—turning fifties into hundreds and boosting my average. My responsibility is to deliver what the team needs in every situation."
The second Test will be a crucial encounter for both teams. While West Indies aim for a whitewash, Bangladesh will be fighting to level the series.
