In a thrilling match, Pakistan came close to reaching their aim of 317 courtesy to a combination between Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan. Australia was unable to fully create distance between themselves and the players from Pakistan until the final half hour of the match. After Rizwan was dismissed, the next five wickets were lost for a total of 18 runs in forty balls, despite the fact that they had five wickets in hand and needed to win with 98.
"We played better cricket as a team. I'm proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way. If I sum up the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general. Our batting intent was better, and while bowling, we were hitting the right areas. Yes, we made some mistakes that cost us the game but as a team I believe that there were a lot of positives, enough to win the game but unfortunately at the end we didn't win the game,” Pakistan team director Hafeez said.
"I would like to congratulate Australia on a series win, because for sure they played good cricket. But as a team, I'm really proud of the fact that the Pakistan team showed great courage and great intent, and played with great passion to win the game. And I'm really proud of them."
