Playing on his home ground, Head smashed 140 runs off 141 balls, including 17 fours and four sixes, helping Australia establish a 157-run lead in the first innings of the second Test. This innings also saw Head break his own record for the fastest century in pink-ball Tests.
After reaching his century, Head performed the cradle rock celebration, dedicating the moment to his newborn son, Harrison.
His wife Jessica and their baby were present at the stadium to witness the special moment. Jessica, overwhelmed with joy, expressed her excitement in an interview with Rachel Khawaja on 7 Cricket.
"It’s amazing; you can’t ask for more than a hundred at Adelaide. This is a ground that’s close to our hearts—it’s home for both of us. Seeing him achieve this milestone in front of family and friends, with our newborn son watching his first game, is something truly special,” Jessica said.
Head, who had missed the limited-overs series against Pakistan due to paternity leave, repeated a heartwarming moment from his past. Jessica fondly recalled how Head celebrated in a similar fashion when their daughter Milla attended her first game.
“We have just got a newborn, it was his first game and doing it in front of all of us was just amazing. I think he got a hundred on Milla’s first game at the stadium as well, and now he has done the same at Harrison’s first game, so it is very special," Jessica shared.
