Indian Batter Suryakumar Yadav's struggles with the bat continued as he failed to make an impact during the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Haryana. On February 8 during the first day of the match at iconic Eden Gardens the Mumbai star was clean-bowled by Haryana pacer Sumit Kumar for just nine runs.

Sumit Kumar who had been delivering consistent outswingers got one to nip back in sharply. Indian national T20I team captain batting at number five for Mumbai, misjudged the line and the ball went straight through uprooting his middle stump. The dismissal left the stump flying and Surya walking back to the pavilion after a brief stay at the crease.
The moment came in the eighth over when Surya who had just started with a boundary found himself dismissed after facing only five balls. His poor run with the bat has been evident but this dismissal was particularly dramatic as the middle stump went flying behind him.

Despite his form in domestic cricket Suryakumar Yadav has been leading the Indian T20I team to success. Since taking over the captaincy following Rohit Sharma's retirement after the t20i world cup 2024 sky has guided India to series wins against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, and England. However the former no1 t20i batter own performances with the bat haven't been as impressive. In the recent 4-1 T20I series win over England, he managed just 28 runs across five games, including two ducks.
