India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a tense exchange with Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper Litton Das during the first Test of the two-match series in Chennai. Pant, who made his Test comeback after a year-long absence due to injury, received a warm welcome from fans when he walked to the crease following Virat Kohli’s dismissal.
Pant, who was involved in a serious car accident in December 2022, returned to professional cricket earlier this year, first playing in the IPL and later in the T20 World Cup. His appearance in this Test marked his much-anticipated return to red-ball cricket.
The heated moment between Pant and Das occurred during the 15th over, after Pant and his batting partner ran a single off a deflection from Pant's pads. Litton Das seemed displeased, as such deflections are not typically taken for runs. Das confronted Pant over the incident, sparking a brief verbal exchange.
Pant responded by saying, "Usko bhi to dekho, merko kuy mar raha hai?" (Translation: "Look at him, why is he attacking me?"). To this, Das replied, "Wicket samne hai to marega hi" (translation: "The wicket's in front, so of course, he will hit you").

Despite the tension, both players continued their respective roles, and the match carried on without further incident. Pant’s return to the Test arena after a long hiatus added extra excitement to the game, with fans eager to see him in action again.
