Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals registered a dominant 8-wicket win over Rishab Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants in Match 40 of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium.

Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar’s sensational spell (4/33) set the tone as DC restricted LSG to 159/6 despite an 87-run opening stand. In reply the Wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul struck a superb match-winning 57* off 42 balls at No.3 steering DC home with 13 balls to spare.

After the game a rather awkward moment between KL Rahul and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka grabbed the limelight. In a now-viral video Rahul was seen shaking hands briefly with Goenka before quickly walking away avoiding any extended interaction.

The interaction happened during the post-match handshakes when DC players greeted Goenka. Rahul who once led LSG exchanged a quick handshake but didn't stay for a conversation. Despite Goenka seemingly trying to say something Rahul headed straight back to the DC dugout, leaving the LSG owner smiling uncomfortably.

While the viral moment caught attention Rahul let his bat do the real talking. Promoted to No.3 the stylish right-hander scored a sublime 57 off 42 balls* anchoring the chase effortlessly.

In the process KL Rahul became the fastest batter to reach 5000 runs in IPL history achieving the feat in just 130 innings.
