Kamindu Mendis continued his stellar rise in Test cricket by smashing his fifth century on Day 2 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at the Galle International Stadium on Friday, September 27. Mendis, who has been in phenomenal form since his return to Test cricket in March, achieved this remarkable feat in just his 13th Test innings, equaling the legendary Sir Don Bradman in the record books.

With this century, Mendis now shares the fourth spot with Bradman for the fastest to five Test centuries. Everton Weekes (10 innings), Herbert Sutcliffe (12 innings), and Neil Harvey (12 innings) occupy the top three spots. Kamindu’s achievement also makes him the fastest Asian cricketer to score five Test hundreds, surpassing Pakistan’s Fawad Alam, who took 22 innings.
