Pakistan national cricket team former captain Babar Azam had a rough start to his Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 campaign getting out for a two-ball duck against Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, April 12. It was his first match of the season for Peshawar Zalmi but definitely not the comeback he would’ve hoped for especially after being dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad for the New Zealand series last month.

Fans expected fireworks from the former skipper but instead he walked back without scoring leaving everyone stunned at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

It didn’t take long for Quetta to strike. In just the opening over of Zalmi’s chase veteran pacer Mohammad Amir delivered a peach of a ball to get rid of Babar. It was a full delivery outside off stump nothing too flashy, but it did the trick. Babar went for a drive hoping to pierce the infield but mistimed it completely.

The ball held up off the pitch and bounced just enough to throw him off. It flew straight to Rilee Rossouw, standing sharp at short cover who made no mistake with the catch. That’s how Babar’s PSL 2025 began gone for a duck in no time.

Babar’s recent T20 form hasn’t looked great. His last half-century came way back on May 14, 2024, when he smashed 75 off 42 balls against Ireland.
