When we hear the name Virender Sehwag, we instantly get a flashback of his first ball four or a second ball six. Such was his craze when he was playing for Indian national cricket team. But as they say, the form is temporary, the class is permanent, in Viru’s case we need to alter this sentence as ‘form is temporary, destruction is permanent.’
While playing for Kidamba Lions in the Karnataka Chalana Chitra Cup (KCC), the Delhi opener hit a second ball sixer when he came to open the innings for the team. It was obviously a 10 over a side friendly match which was played at the famous Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. Sehwag posted the video of his second ball six on his twitter handle.
Karnataka Chalana Chitra Cup is a small but emerging tournament which is held in the city of Bangalore. The format of the tournament includes a total of six sides as follows: Rashatrakuta Panthers, Ganga Warriors, Wadeyar Charges, Hoysala Eagles, Vijayanagar Patriots and Kadamba Lions.
Some of the biggest names of world cricket are also giving a go with a touch of fun and entertainment to this tournament. The familiar faces include Sri Lankan legendary opener Tillakaratne Dilshan, South African destructive opening batsman Herschelle Gibbs, English middle order batsman Owais Shah and legendary South African all-rounder Lance Klusener.
Sehwag was in his usual form when he came to bat. He always followed his instinct throughout his international career. Though it backfired a few times still he continued hitting the ball out of the park without getting worried of getting out playing risky shots. And that’s what set him miles apart from other openers around the world.
The Sultan of Multan had the utmost respect for all the bowlers around the world but when the ball came in his hitting zone, he always showed no respect whatsoever to the ball nor the bowler and hit it out of the stadium. His unorthodox style of batting with a minimal feet movement attracted many cricket critics but still against all the odds he emerged as one of the best openers ever graced this game.
