Bangladesh's cricket team has scripted an epic tale in Rawalpindi, securing a 2-0 series victory over Pakistan with dominant performances in both matches. This historic triumph has left many pondering if Bangladesh has ever achieved such a feat in their cricket history.
For years, the Test victory against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui was considered Bangladesh's greatest achievement. However, this series win against Pakistan seems to surpass that milestone.
Former captain Tamim Iqbal shared his thoughts with ESPNcricinfo, stating, "It’s immense. I think this has been the biggest achievement in Test cricket for Bangladesh for sure. The way the team played was phenomenal. If you see the first innings [first Test], Pakistan scored 480 odd [448 runs] and the way Bangladesh came back with the bat and the way they bowled in both the innings. Rawalpindi’s wicket is pretty good for batting but Bangladesh’s fast bowlers were unbelievable. It’s a great moment for Bangladesh cricket. Specially when we were 23 for 6 [26/6 in second Test], to come out from that position and winning the match is something people will remember for a long time.”
When asked if this was the most special victory for Bangladesh, Tamim added, " Definitely, in Test matches for sure [special victory]. We don’t have many success in Test cricket to be honest. But this is one thing which will surely be remembered for a long time. And specially Bangladesh as a nation is going through a lot. This victory will unite the nations. I have always told that cricket united Bangladesh, cricket unites world I think. This victory will give a lot of happiness to people who have seen some tough times recently. I think with the boys to have that kind of mentality and go there in Pakistan and play the way they played, they also need to get a lot of credit and lot of clapping.”
