Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh very badly in the Sylhet Test. Poor batting was the main reason for the loss. Because batters often played unnecessary shots and the Tigers were unable to score runs, they've lost a lot of games. Habibul Bashar Sumon, a former cricket player and manager, advised on how to make these kinds of wickets better.
In the Sylhet Test, things were very different. The wicket was much bouncy and helped the ball move faster than most wickets. Late in the game, the Tigers lost wickets. Bashar says that the Tigers' problem is with their top-order hitting.
Bashar said, “I think there is a little difficulty in this match, that is our top-order batting. But now in our domestic cricket, we have such wickets, we play first-class cricket on such wickets. Still, the batters could not adapt. We see 250-280 runs are scored on this pitch. There is a seam, the movement happens."
Top-order batting is important for Bashar. Bashar advised them to adapt to the wicket and improve. He said that the Tigers did not have the batter to deal with the disaster.
"The most important thing is the top-order batting. But after 20 overs the batting becomes easier. We saw it in Sri Lanka's innings and we saw it in our batting as well. They had the batter to handle it, our problem was we didn't have the batter to handle it. We will have to adapt to the wicket and improve. If such a wicket is set, batting becomes easier later on. We saw Dhananjaya's batting, we saw Kamindu's batting,” Bashar added.
