Lanka Premier League (LPL) team Jaffna Kings have bid farewell to in-form batter Towhid Hridoy with a good wish post on Facebook. Hridoy was called 'brother' on behalf of the team, that too in Bengali.
Hridoy’s great game sense, mature batting under pressure, and success brought to the team - this season of LPL will be remembered for many reasons. Shoaib Malik was busy in the Global T20 League. So, Jaffna needed a batter as a replacement. Hridoy, whose franchise cricket experience was limited to the BPL, was chosen to replace the experienced Malik.
But what Hridoy showed in the LPL, there is no way not to be impressed. He was so dominant in his first franchise league that Jaffna offered the temporary replacement Hridoy to play the entire season. But the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup are ahead. Hridoy will keep the number 4 position in the batting order of the Bangladesh team. Therefore, to prepare for the World Cup, he refused to extend the contract with Jaffna and took the country's path.
It is clear how upset Jaffna officials are about the departure of Hridoy in one of their Facebook posts. In a message from their official page, Hriday has been bid goodbye and well, that too in Bengali.
Jaffna wrote, “He came, he conquered and unfortunately we have to let him go. Wishing this young superstar a very bright future. Thank you Hridoy malli!”
Hridoy is Jaffna’s highest run-scorer till now in the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL). He scored 155 runs in 6 matches with an average of 38.75. He had a strike-rate of 135.96. He also hit a half-century.
