Bangladesh’s fast-bowler Taskin Ahmed is gearing up for his maiden appearance in the IPL auction, scheduled for the upcoming 18th season. Taskin has prioritized his national duties in recent years, turning down IPL offers, including a direct signing with Lucknow Super Giants. Now, as Taskin officially enters the mega auction, speculation is high that reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) may pursue him to strengthen their pace lineup. According to reports from Indian media, the three-time IPL champions are keen on adding a bowler of Taskin’s caliber, particularly given their current need for an experienced foreign pacer.

KKR has a storied history with fast bowlers, having fielded legends like Shoaib Akhtar, Shane Bond, Brett Lee, Trent Boult, and Mitchell Starc. Given Taskin’s pace, experience, and pressure-handling skills, he could fit right into their scheme on Indian pitches, particularly at Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens. Taskin’s proximity as a neighboring country's player also adds appeal, as he has ample experience in subcontinental conditions.

While Taskin’s bid prospects are strong, KKR does have other options, so the final decision may depend on the auction dynamics. In addition to Taskin, 12 other Bangladeshi players are set to go under the hammer in this IPL auction, marking an increase in Bangladesh representation compared to previous years.

Bangladesh stars like Mustafizur Rahman, who played last season for Chennai Super Kings, are also in the auction pool. Familiar faces such as Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das are registered, alongside emerging talents including Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Towhid Hridoy. With several players actively competing in Bangladesh’s national team, this year’s auction holds strong potential for these players to gain valuable IPL contracts.

Mustafizur’s base price is set at the maximum 2 crore INR, making him the highest-valued Bangladeshi in the auction. Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed both have a base price of 1 crore INR, as does Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Notably, Shakib brings championship experience with KKR, where he played a pivotal role in securing two IPL titles.
