Bangladesh cricketing icon Tamim Iqbal has finally come home after a heart attack that put his life in danger and shocked the cricket world.  The experienced opener had a huge heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on March 24. He was taken home from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka today.

Tamim thanked everyone on social media for saving his life, from doctors and hospital staff to friends and people who just wanted to wish him well.  He talked about his near-death experience in a moving Facebook post, calling it a "new lease on life."

During a DPL game at BKSP on March 24, Tamim felt pain in his chest out of the blue.  He was given CPR right away, and he was taken to the KPJ Hospital in Savar, where doctors found that an artery was stopped.  After that, he got a DC shock and an emergency angioplasty, which is when a valve was put into his heart.

Had the treatment been even slightly delayed, the outcome could have been fatal. Acknowledging this, Tamim wrote in his Facebook post, “I owe my life to the swift action of the medical team and those who were by my side in those crucial moments. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today.”

On March 26, Tamim was transferred to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for further treatment, and on March 28, he was discharged and allowed to return home.

Shortly after reaching home, Tamim Iqbal posted a heartfelt message on his official Facebook page, expressing his deep gratitude. “These past four days have changed my perspective on life. I have always felt love from my fans, but this time, I truly experienced it in a way I never have before. I am overwhelmed.”

Among those he thanked were match referee Debabrata Paul, the BKSP doctors for acting quickly, the ambulance driver who took him to the hospital, and Mohammedan trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim, whose CPR saved his life.

Tamim revealed that doctors later told him had CPR not been given at the right time, he might not have survived. "Dalim Bhai, I don't know how to thank you enough. You saved my life."

Tamim was also full of appreciation for the KPJ Hospital's cardiology team, led by Dr. Moniruzzaman Maruf, calling their actions nothing short of a miracle. "Many top cardiologists in Bangladesh have told me that the doctors at KPJ Hospital performed a miracle that saved my life. Their expertise and professionalism were truly outstanding."

He also expressed his pride in Bangladesh's medical system, acknowledging that many people don’t realize how advanced some hospitals outside Dhaka have become. "The fact that a high-quality hospital like KPJ exists outside Dhaka, with such skilled doctors and staff, is a testament to how far our country’s healthcare has come."

Tamim believes that if more hospitals like this were available across Bangladesh, many lives could be saved in emergency situations like his.

While Tamim is now home, the road to full recovery is still long. It remains uncertain whether he will be able to return to professional cricket, but doctors have assured that with proper care, he can lead a healthy life.  For now, fans and well-wishers continue to pray for his full recovery, while Tamim has asked for continued support and blessings from everyone. "Please keep me and my family in your prayers as I embark on this journey towards full recovery. May everyone's life be blessed with health and happiness."
