The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced a line-up of star cricketers who will be part of the commentary panel for next year's 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)
Former England Test skipper Sir Alastair Cook is making his HBL PSL debut as a commentator behind the mic as the Pakistan Cricket Board today announced an array of star commentators for HBL PSL X.
Cook will be accompanied by former MCC President Mark Nicholas, a well-known cricket commentator since retiring from competitive cricket in 1995. Nicholas has also stayed connected to SKY Sports in England and Channel 9 in Australia. Dominic Cork and Mark Butcher, fellow countrymen, accompany Cook and Nicholas, while South Africans Jean-Paul Duminy and Mike Haysman complete the team.
Joining from Bangladesh is Athar Ali Khan, alongside New Zealand Test cricketer Martin Guptill. Australia's two-time ICC Women's World Cup winner, Lisa Sthalekar, will also be contributing to the tournament.
The PCB has also hired four erstwhile Pakistani Test captains—Aamir Sohail, Ramiz Raja, Waqar Younis, and Wasim Akram—to front the commentary team. Waqar and Wasim have been included in the ICC and PCB Hall of Fame.
They will be accompanied by erstwhile Test cricketer Bazid Khan, erstwhile Pakistan women's team captain Urooj Mumtaz, and cricket expert Sikander Bakht.
In a first of sorts, this edition of the HBL PSL will have complete match coverage with Urdu commentary.
The Urdu commentary team will include Ali Younis, Aqeel Samar, Marina Iqbal, Salman Butt, and Tariq Saeed, who will support the above-mentioned Pakistani commentators in selected segments.
Erin Holland and Zainab Abbas will present the league matches as lead presenters.
Salman Naseer, HBL PSL Managing Director:
"We are thrilled to invite a star commentary panel, comprised of some of cricket's most familiar voices – including illustrious past Test captains and top-notch commentators. Their commitment not only elevates the standards of our coverage but also reflects on the international standing of HBL PSL.".
"This season, for the first time ever in HBL PSL history, we will be telecasting a full match with Urdu commentary – a step that gets us even closer to our avid fan base throughout Pakistan. We are sure that the blend of legendary voices and new innovations will elevate the viewing experience for fans at home and worldwide."
