Sri Lanka came to USA early to adapt to the conditions of the country. They went to Morrisville in North Carolina after they came to the country. But the Sri Lanka team manager reveals that they couldn’t practice because of the rain and lack of proper practice facilities.
“The conditions and the pitches were totally different. Yes, we came early, we were in North Carolina and a place called Morrisville. But actually we couldn’t practice the entire period because of rain. The wickets there were not upto standard. And we found it bit difficult. I won’t say because of that we lost. But when you look at the records at USA, there are low scores and maximum definitely have to adapt to the conditions and you get a decent total so that bowlers can bowl and try to win the game,” Halangoda said.
He also reveals that they tried to find another place but all the places were booked. They also wanted to play a series against USA but they failed as Bangladesh played a three-match T20I series at that time. “We actually tried to do it but unfortunately all those grounds were not available. And we did contact with the USA cricket association and they were the ones who helped us to find a place in North Carolina. All the other places were fully booked. Actually we even tried to play a series with the USA team. You know Bangladesh had already got an opportunity to play against them. Because of that we had to go to North Carolina,” he added.
