South Africa defeated the West Indies by 40 runs on Sunday (18th August) in Guyana. Wiaan Mulder's all-round brilliance and Keshav Maharaj's excellent display of bowling throughout the series helped South Africa edge West Indies by 1-0 in the series.
Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada's three wickets apiece in the second innings have overshadowed Jayden Seales' excellent spell of 6/41 earlier in the day. However, the West Indies lower order wagged heavily and went close to the target but couldn’t cross the line, were short of 40 runs.
South Africa's 1-0 series win sees South Africa climb two spots up to 5th position with 38.89 point percentage. Whilst the West Indies have been thumped into the abyssal in the points table, stuttering at the last position with a point percentage of 18.52.
India are topping the chart once again, while Australia come at number 2. The Blackcaps are standing on third. Sri Lanka come behind of New Zealand at number 4.
The upcoming Border-Gavasker Trophy between Australia and India will once again decide the table that whether Australia defend the WTC title.
