Shivam Dube has been one of the standout performers for Chennai Super Kings in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman played a substantial role in delivering the goods in the middle order. CSK largely benefitted from the cricketer's services throughout the season.

Shivam Dube had a breakthrough season for CSK as he scored 418 runs in 16 games at a batting average of 38.
Moreover, he maintained a strike rate of 158.33. Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier and made it to the tenth IPL final. Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians in the 2nd qualifier to lock horns with CSK in the final. As it turned out, CSK beat GT and clinched the fifth IPL title.

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube was pleased with his batting performance and it wouldn't have been possible without the support from the team management and MS Dhoni. During an interview with Indian Express, Shivam Dube added that MS Dhoni's valuable advice helped him bring the best out of himself.
Shivam Dube echoed that it was MS Dhoni who gave him much-needed clarity in his batting. Dhoni told Dube about the role that he is going to be performing. Dube performed superbly well for CSK by upping his ante in the middle order.
CSK's middle-order batsman said, "Mahi Bhai gave me the clarity, he told me what my role is, even if I get out early no problem but try your best, the brief was clear, I don't know whether he will be playing next year but we need him, so I can grow under him."
While speaking to TOI, Shivam Dube said, "Mahi bhai was very supportive. He told me to express myself in the middle. He said 'I've confidence in you and believe that you'll do well. You don't have to think too much about your role. You play the way you want to play."
