Ex-Pakistan captain and present Quetta Gladiators team director Sarfaraz Ahmed has at last spoken to the increasing rumor regarding his retirement from professional cricket
Former Pakistan captain and present team director of the Quetta Gladiators in PSL 10, Sarfaraz Ahmed, has made it clear that he has not retired from cricket and will only do so when he finds the proper time.
Sarfaraz has spoken in a special interview of his future plan and how anyone cricketer cannot easily give up the sport. "I have not come out with the announcement of retirement yet," he replied.
Right-handed Sarfaraz admitted the emotional challenge a professional cricketer would go through in relinquishing the game.
"When you've played cricket all your life, it is naturally disappointing to leave the game," he conceded. "All players have to take a break at some stage, but I try to get the most out of every game I can."
Even though he was overlooked in the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the ex-Gladiators skipper indicated he has not lost the hope of returning to professional cricket.
"I still have hope that I might get another chance. I never said I had to play for Pakistan – of course, it's every player's dream to play for their country. I just want to play well in every cricket match, irrespective of what I play, and give 100 percent," he added.
The former Pakistan captain added that he would only decide to retire when he felt it was appropriate. "When I feel the moment is there, I will say it myself: Yes, my cricket is over now," said Sarfaraz Ahmed.
