Australia have piled up 311 losing 6 wickets after the end of day one of Boxing Day Test. Debutant Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith all cashed in with fifties and helped the Aussies get over 300 mark.
Opting to bat first, Aussie teen batting prodigy Sam Konstas took on India's best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah with some audacious ramp shots and gave Australia a terrific start, helping them get a fifty-run opening stand for the very first time in this series.
There have been some heated words exchanged between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas.
Konstas' entertaining knock ensured other batters were not exposed to the new ball. Konstas made a sensational 60 off 65 deliveries before being dismissed to Ravindra Jadeja.
Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja all had starts and eventually ended up scoring fifties. But India rocked back with picking up three wickets for only 9 runs as Jasprit Bumrah knocked over India's nemesis Travis Head for a 7-ball duck.
However another fifty plus stand between Steve Smith and Alex Carey put Australia close to 300. Akash Deep removed the latter one but Steve Smith brought up a fifty and remained unbeaten on 68* off 111 deliveries with Australia being on 311-6.
