Embattled former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has reportedly received a job offer from the Afghanistan Cricket Board after he was removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board's selection panel.
Days after his removal from the Pakistan Cricket Board's selection committee, former captain Salman Butt received a job offer from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (AFB).
Along with Kamran Akmal and Iftikhar Anjum, the former captain has been appointed by the PCB as advisor to the chief selector, with his role set to begin ahead of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in January. After severe backlash, the PCB removed Salman Butt as advisor to the chief selector.
However, just a day after the appointment, Salman Butt was removed from the panel as the PCB faced severe criticism for bringing in the tainted cricketer. The former left-handed batsman was involved in the infamous spot-fixing scandal of 2010. He served a prison sentence and was banned for 10 years by the International Criminal Court for his role in one of the industry's biggest scandals.
Now Salman Butt has been contacted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board and has been offered the job of batting consultant for the upcoming series against India.
Before his suspension, Salman Butt represented Pakistan in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs and 24 T20Is. He scored over 4000 runs with the help of 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries in international cricket. After serving his ban, the former Pakistan opener plied his trade as a batsman in Pakistan cricket as well as the Pakistan Super League.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan will be looking to perform well in the upcoming series against India after their impressive run in the World Cup. Afghanistan stunned everyone with their brilliant performance in the competition. They finished sixth in the points table ahead of countries such as England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They defeated England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands in the tournament.
