In the match, Rohit hit 46 off 40 balls. His knock had four boundaries and four sixes. Rohit batted at a strike rate of 115. This took Rohit's tally of sixes to 53 this year.
The highest number of sixes in ODIs in a calendar year is scored by South African legend AB de Villiers, who scored 58 in 18 innings in 2015. He is followed by the hard-hitting West Indies batsman Chris Gayle, who hit 56 maximums in 15 innings in 2019. Rohit is at third position with 53 this year.
Rohit, who already has 50 sixes to his name in the current 2023 cycle, will surely add a few more to his tally in the ongoing ICC Blue Ribbon event on home soil.
Rohit also climbed to second place in the list of most sixes scored by a batsman in the ICC ODI World Cups with 38 maximum deliveries. He is only in second place behind Gayle, who took 49 shots across the starting line at the prestigious event.
